wolof grammar pt. i
Dec. 11th, 2013 09:49 am i've come to see ibye's language as being much like wolof as far as phonetics, morphology or syntax are concerned, with some additional peculiarities (no words for a direct "yes" or "no", contour tones, sounds that come in broad/hard vs. slender/soft pairs).
i was also thinking that the words daara and naqtaara could come from his language, and would be used mostly by members of his ethnic group. the official majority language would have its own terms for these two states, along with the other phenomena related to the altered neurophysiology.
